As a friend of mine observed, Twitter and Facebook have largely decapitated the blogging world. If my thought doesn’t fit into 140 characters, my friend claims, nobody wants to read it.
I think my friend wasn’t cynical enough. If my thought doesn’t fit into 140 characters, I’m not always sure I have the attention span to finish thinking it.

I think Twitter hasn’t replace blogging, it’s just made the two-line “thought of the day” or “reblogging” type post obsolete. Want do do something like that? Do it on Twitter. That’s what I’m doing. But, I think some topics are weighty enough that 140 characters doesn’t cut it. Issues like digging into game design and game business, for example.
Plus, I still can’t stand following conversations on Twitter. I much prefer blog comments, even if they’re often fired and forgotten. At least you can get some context without following an @Name link and digging through the day’s worth of “aw my cute kitty” tweets to find out what was being replied to.
